Before school let out for summer break, we took our Earth Day Heroes 2016 winners to visit the McWane Science Center here in Birmingham!  Miss Brook’s 3rd grade class at Cornerstone Schools of Alabama won first place in our contest this year. Their class pledged to make signs for their school to encourage other students not to litter. They kept their promise! When we surprised them on Earth Day to let them know they won, we were so excited to get to see their handmade signs in action! The students did a great job promoting the protection of our environment in their school and their community. We are proud of them for making a difference.

As the first place winner of Earth Day Heroes, this class received a $300 cash donation, a pizza party and an all expense paid field trip to the McWane Science Center. We spent the day exploring the museum and seeing the movie Wild Africa in the Imax theater.  We had a great day and we hope the students did too! Here are some pictures from our trip. If you voted in our Earth Day Heroes contest, thank you. You helped these students have an awesome day!
